Travel America with Oso conmigo...

Oso conmigo Tied Up in His WorkA Summer Camp can be a round trip, or a one way point to point. One week or several. Your adventure can be mostly a matter of driving from place to place for short visits (to the many hot springs in Idaho for instance) or mostly staying at one place (such as The Eastern Naturist Festival) or some combination of both kinds. For the most part I expect Campers to work with me and other Campers to develop an itinerary and thus become acquainted with one another and the facilities available aboard The Cat Drag'd Inn.

A typical Summer Camp on the Road will comprise a few days of getting acquainted followed by several days on the road, visiting hot springs, boondocking, "camping" in primitive areas, and then maybe a night at an established campground for access to showers and laundry.  One such tour took Charles, Cassius and David, picked up at the SeaTAC airport in Seattle, on an adventure to sunbathe in the Midnight Sun north of Fairbanks Alaska.  See Franck’s letter for the storey of his tour through the deserts of southern Arizona and Denali's 2007 Summer Camp on The Road in New Mexico, Colorado, & Arizona.

This 1964 Superior Coach, with room for improvment...

..can accomodate groups of one to seven members depending upon how big they are and how cozy they want to be. A comfortable group would comprise 3-5 kids and 2 or 3 adults, including me and Sara(h) La Gata. Privacy is marginal, space is limited. Campers are expected to help with the day to day living chores such as cooking and cleaning up whilst sharing in the sense of wonder experiencing the “Blue Highways” of America.

Ian at the Trailhead Ready for a Hike. What kind of Summer Camp do you have in mind? ...

Your camp could be a month long quest of hot springs from Arizona to Idaho or a slow drive from one skinnydipping beach to another along the west coast.

Watch Out for Sharp RocksWe could plan a fortnight of cultural and historic sightseeing with nights at one or more naturist resorts along the way or a whole Summer of wandering from coast to coast.

If you prefer bicycling or hiking, or a walk in the wilderness, I could set you down at one trailhead in the morning and pick you up at another later in the day. Summer Camp need not be in the Summer.
Be sure to bring a patch kit.
Remember This: Three things. I will tell them to you in the order of their importance. One, we must have as much fun as we can with what we have. Two, we must eat as well as we can, and get plenty of sleep, cos if we don’t then we won’t have the strength to have as much fun as we might. And Three, we must keep the bus reasonably in order, wash the dishes and such things. But we will not let the last interfere with the first two.

I do the driving and you share the expenses...
